Uniquely prepared to handle every element of the divorce and separation journey

An Expert in Change

I started to consult on ‘Change’ when working in project management in the 1990s. I learnt about the challenges faced by individuals as well as organisations when undergoing significant change. I learnt the tools to identify potential outcomes and possible obstacles, and the skills to develop a clear strategy to maximise an outcome and mitigate the possible risks associated with the transition. This experience has enabled me to become a more effective family law solicitor with a distinctive approach to managing the separation process.

A Personal Journey into Family Law

I requalified as a solicitor in 2008 following the breakdown of my marriage when my children were 4 and 6. I developed a successful career as a Family Solicitor and was appointed Partner and Head of the Family Law at Blaser Mills Law in the South East of England in 2020. I have been recognised in my field by The Legal 500 and Chambers and have been a member of Resolution since 2008 as a solicitor, and latterly also as a mediator.

Recognising the Limits of the Adversarial System

Early in my legal career, I understood the adversarial and contentious nature of the family legal system and how destructive this could be. I also learnt to understand the significant impact that this could have on the likely outcome, the financial costs and the individuals involved, including the children.

Commitment to Alternative Dispute Resolution

To further my practice, I became a Family Mediator in 2011 and was accredited in 2018. This enabled me to practice in alternative forms of dispute resolution, working with both parties in an effective and more collaborative way.

Specialist in Child-Inclusive Mediation

I qualified as a Child Inclusive Mediator in 2020 having recognised the importance of the voice of the child and how often this was overlooked by parents locked in conflict. This deepened my understanding of the impact of a separation on the children, and the additional dimension that this adds to the complexity of the separation process.

Psychodynamic Insight into Relationship Breakdown

I have studied the psychodynamics of relationships and the effect of the breakdown of a relationship on those dynamics. I recognise the importance of understanding the personalities involved in the divorce and how this can impact the process as well as the outcome. This can be particularly valuable when situations are complicated by a partner with particularly challenging traits such as narcissism or controlling behaviours. I pride myself in providing additional support for my clients in this area.

Coaching for Change and Clarity

In 2023 I qualified as an NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) coach. As part of this training, I learnt how individuals process information and how this and their values and beliefs can affect how they react to change and to those around them.

Bringing It All Together

In 2025 I decided to focus on my consultancy and mediation work. I still work as a mediator for Blaser Mills Law but chose to practise privately as a separation and divorce consultant.

My experience and expertise combine to form a unique skill set perfectly placed to address all aspects of the divorce and separation process.
